Futility
$200.00
Description
1/1 piece wood burned into a cut of real wood, the bark still attached to it's outer edge. the piece depicts a sheep being carried off by a balloon, the words "existence is futile" written across it.
the sheep in this piece may not represent a human who follows willfully, as sheep often do in media. in this case, the sheep is still not able to exact it's will, but it also has no choice. it is being lifted away from any place it might be able to make it's own choices, or move in a chosen direction. instead, it's life is in the hands of a mindless, directionless balloon that drifts lazily through the sky. this may not be a negative thing, the balloon could carry the sheep anywhere - the message instead is that existing itself and associating meaning to that existence is essentially pointless. although we may want to make our own choices, there is no guarantee that things will work out in our favor, and in the end our choices lead nowhere.
